Colyn needs to go back to Klarin, the otherworld. He has a terrifying vision of the dragons forging a new Dragon Knife and using it to reassert their power. He feels compelled to go back and stop them. In the hostile landscape of the otherworld, he is challenged by a girl called Yasni, who lost her father when Klarin lost his mother in the great Turning War. When they explore a dragon lair, Colyn stabs a clutch of dragon eggs, but lets one hatchling go. It will prove to be a big mistake. He and Yasni witness the rising of the beast called Dragonfox and defeat both him and the dragon that turns on Colyn just before he slips through the doorway back to his own world.
